Privacy Policy

Pare ("we," "our," or "us") is a recipe-clipping app developed by Oshen Apps (bundle ID: com.oshenapps.pare). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information when you use the Pare app on iOS or any related services.
We are committed to handling your data with respect and transparency. Pare is designed to work primarily offline — your recipes live on your device, not on our servers.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Recipe URLs. When you clip a recipe, you provide a URL. That URL (and the page content behind it) is sent to our extraction server solely to parse and return the recipe to your device. We do not retain URLs or page content after processing is complete.
- Support communications. If you contact us via email, we receive your email address and the content of your message to respond to your inquiry.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Subscription data (RevenueCat). Pare uses RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat assigns an anonymous app-user ID to your device and records purchase events (e.g., subscription start, renewal, cancellation). RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or Apple ID. You can review RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
- Crash and diagnostic data. If you have opted in to share analytics with Apple, Apple may provide us with aggregated crash reports through App Store Connect. We do not use third-party crash reporting SDKs.
1.3 Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or Apple ID.
- We do not use advertising SDKs or third-party analytics trackers.
- We do not build advertising profiles or share data with data brokers.
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not access your contacts, camera, or microphone.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Recipe extraction. URLs you submit are sent to our server, where page content is processed by our AI extraction engine (powered by OpenRouter / Google Gemini) to identify recipe data (title, ingredients, instructions, prep time). The extracted recipe is returned to your device and the source content is immediately discarded by our server.
- Subscription management. RevenueCat data is used to verify your subscription status and unlock premium features (unlimited recipe clips).
- Support. Your email and message are used only to respond to your support request and are not used for marketing.
3. How Your Data Is Stored
3.1 On-Device Storage
All saved recipes — including titles, ingredients, instructions, prep times, and cover images — are stored locally on your device using an on-device SQLite database. This data never leaves your device unless you enable iCloud Sync.
3.2 iCloud Sync (Optional)
If you enable iCloud Sync in Settings, your recipe library is synced to your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. iCloud Sync is entirely optional and can be turned off at any time. We (Oshen Apps) have no access to your iCloud data. Your recipes in iCloud are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
3.3 Our Servers
Our extraction server processes URLs transiently — it fetches the page, extracts recipe data, and returns it. We do not log or store URLs, page HTML, or extracted recipes on our servers beyond the duration of a single request (typically under 10 seconds).

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
5. Data Retention
- Recipe data: Stored on your device until you delete the app or individual recipes. We have no copy of this data.
- Support emails: Retained for up to 2 years to maintain a support history, then deleted.
- RevenueCat subscription records: Retained per RevenueCat's own data retention policy (see their privacy policy for details).
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access & portability. You can export your recipe data at any time from within the app.
- Deletion. Deleting the Pare app from your device removes all locally stored recipe data. To request deletion of any support correspondence we hold, email us at oshenapps@gmail.com.
- Opt-out of iCloud Sync. You can disable iCloud Sync at any time in the app's Settings screen.
- California residents (CCPA). We do not sell personal information. You have the right to know what data we hold about you and to request its deletion. Contact us at oshenapps@gmail.com.
- EU/EEA residents (GDPR). You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your data, and to object to processing. Contact us at oshenapps@gmail.com to exercise these rights.
7. Children's Privacy
Pare is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
8. Security
Data in transit between the app and our extraction server is encrypted using TLS. Recipe data stored on your device is protected by iOS data protection. iCloud data is encrypted by Apple both in transit and at rest. While we take reasonable precautions, no system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice. Continued use of Pare after a change constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
